Description
The Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations system responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and making recommendations on them. It has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention throughout the year.

Executive Board
Jamila Taher
Meet Jamila, a 11th grader who enjoys MUNning and football. Having played football at multiple levels, she’s spent most of her time at the pitch. When you can’t find her on the pitch it usually means she’s at a MUN. With over 10 MUN experiences she is no stranger to political debates. She wishes all delegates best of luck and hopes that the committee ends better than Chelsea’s season this year.
Sai Smrithi
Sai Smrithi is an 11th-grade humanities student who discovered MUN’s in 2024 and has since developed a particular passion for humanitarian committees. Across nearly 20 conferences as both a delegate and an Executive Board member she has built an impressive award record alongside a reputation for having compelling rhetoric.
Outside of Mun’s, She’s an avid reader and music enthusiast, and a dedicated Formula 1 follower. She lives by the philosophy of ‘carpe diem’ and brings that same intentionality into committee.
As a chair, she expects delegates to enter with fresh perspectives and substantive contributions, moving beyond repetition of the same 2 legalities toward genuinely productive debate.
K..V Sai Vishruth
K..V Sai Vishruth is an enthusiastic 10th grader, a voracious reader with a fervent passion for MUNing, and has consistently placed in almost every one of the 36+ committees he’s attended as a delegate, and has served as an executive board member in more than 18- specializing in humanitarian and policy committees, he’s always up for debates – be it legal or political – bringing up niche legalities and resolutions whenever possible. Imbibed with a deep love for geopolitics, he lives by Dumbledores quote : “Its your choices, Harry, that show us what we truly are, far more than our abilites”. Beyond MUNs, he’s a professional Scrabbler and quizzer. As a long-time Manchester United supporter, hes well-acquainted with perseverance and resilience. Being a member of the EB for UNHRC, he looks forward to making it an enjoyable experience for all the delegates.
